The bird-traps were originally used to catch
wild ducks for food. Today, however, they are
used to ring-label birds. Albue Fuglekøje
(bird-trap) is located in delightful surroundings
near Albue Bay and close to Annesdalsbjerget
hill.

Sønderho Old Duck Decoy was established 1866
and recently reestablished in order to open it to
the public. Visitors can experience and gain insight
into the extensive bird life of the Jutland Wadden
Sea through seasonal exhibitions, a nature trail
through the Decoy and through direct
communication with the bird catcher.The duck decoy
is open every day from sunrise to sunset.

The Fisheries and Maritime Museum/Saltwater
Aquarium is located on the coast approx. 1
km north-west of the fishing harbour in Esbjerg.
The museum is surrounded by woods,
beaches and the Wadden Sea, which opens
the door to a range of attractions both indoors
and out. The museum stands on the
beach road, 2 km north-west of the fishing
harbour, where the road forks at Tarphagevej
and Hjertingvej. The main entrance faces
Tarphagevej. Bus lines 1 and 3 run directly to
the museum from the station.

Tipperhuset is the starting point for public tours
of the Tipperne bird sanctuary. If you drive to
the area, you can follow the road all the way to
the car park by Tipperhuset. However, it is not
permitted to stop en route. Outside the tall
birdwatching tower, there is an exhibition about
Tipperne, the birds and the countryside.
